C-CAP Arizona says farewell to a friend and leader

Chef Glenn Humphrey

Chef Glenn Humphrey was a relaxed, positive presence as C-CAP Arizona's lead competition judge.

Chef Glenn Humphrey, CEC, CCE, placement director for the Arizona Culinary Institute and lead judge for Arizona’s C-CAP competitions, passed away Friday, February 13.  Chef Glenn served as lead judge for C-CAP Arizona for years, and was teacher and mentor not only to ACI students, but also to C-CAP graduates and students nearly as long as C-CAP has been active in Arizona.  His contributions to Arizona's culinarians and the hospitality industry are myriad - and notable.  He will be greatly missed.

Below are just two of the tributes posted by fellow chefs.

Chef Glenn Humphrey is not judging French omelettes in heaven.
And, the next time Jesus multiplies the loaves and fishes,
there is someone to fab the fish,
and make sure the bread has been proofed properly.

On Friday the Arizona Culinary Community lost one of its finest and I lost a great friend.
Glenn Humphrey was one of the Good Guys! I guarantee that in every kitchen in the Valley there is at least one, and usually many more cooks who were taught, mentored and encouraged by Glenn.
Glenn was a super hero to hundreds of Culinarians young and old and has helped to shape our Culinary landscape for the way better. He was a walking Culinary Encyclopedia who rarely, if ever, got stumped.
I have been judged by and judged with Glenn in many, many Culinary Competitions and he was the toughest, yet most fair, of all.
He was the lead judge and organizer of many events and competitions, most notably CCAP where he was looked up to and was an inspiration to all of the young High School students who aspire to enter the business and become Chefs.
We will all miss him very, very much!!!
