Harvest Moon Dinner set for October 27

Nearly two dozen professional chefs will work with an equal number of high school culinary classes across the state to produce this fall's Harvest Moon Dinner benefitting Arizona's Careers in Culinary Arts Program (CCAP).

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is the primary sponsor of the event, set for Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at CTCA's Goodyear campus.

"It is all a valuable learning experience for the students, (culinary) instructors, and even us - the Chef mentors," said Robert DeSantis, a chef with food service group Elite Associates.

The Harvest Moon Dinner will afford around 200 guests an opportunity to sample savory and sweet bites from each school and professional chef mentor, with Arizona Cocktail Week mixologists providing appropriate libations.

Culinary instructor Stephanie Adams, and her students at Casa Grande High School, participated in the event's inaugural dinner in 2014.

She said that she and her students "talked about the dinner for weeks (after).  The students that experienced it were so on fire to share with their peers.

"Rubbing shoulders with professionals and working with the public - it's great. And great PR for our school also."

Tickets ($100) for the event will be available later in September.  Updates will be posted on the CCAP Harvest Moon Dinner page on Facebook.
